Frequently asked questions about temperature sensors

What temperature range do ROSSMA sensors measure?
1-Wire Ex sensors measure from -55 to +125 °C with ±0.5 °C accuracy. Electronics operating temperature is -55 to +80 °C. MeshSens supports a similar range.
Can the temperature sensors be used in hazardous areas?
Yes. 1-Wire Ex has Ex d (flameproof enclosure) certification, 1-Wire Ex db has Ex db certification. Both are certified for Zone 1 and 2 per IEC 60079.
How many temperature sensors can be connected to one bus?
1-Wire technology allows connecting up to 10 sensors on a single bus up to 300 meters long. Each sensor has a unique digital address and is polled individually.
What is the difference between 1-Wire Ex and 1-Wire Ex db?
1-Wire Ex features Ex d protection (flameproof enclosure) — a reinforced housing for harsh conditions. 1-Wire Ex db is a compact version with Ex db protection, suitable for less aggressive environments.
How is ±0.5 °C accuracy achieved?
A factory-calibrated digital sensor is used. Unlike analog thermocouples and RTDs, the digital 1-Wire signal is immune to interference and requires no cold junction compensation.
Are the sensors suitable for heating network monitoring?
Yes. 1-Wire Ex sensors are installed at heating substations, on supply and return lines. Data is transmitted via LoRaWAN to NETS and then to the dispatch center. Deployed at hundreds of heating points across Russia.
Can the sensors be used for predictive maintenance?
Yes. Monitoring bearing, motor winding, and transformer temperatures enables early overheating detection. NETS.HMI builds trends and sends warnings when abnormal temperature rise is detected.
