Rosstandart a approuvé la norme du protocole LoRaWAN pour le marché de l’IoT

LoRaWAN a acquis des caractéristiques nationales.

Rosstandart has approved the second series of national standards in the field of Internet of Things technologies, sensor networks, and the Industrial Internet of Things. The documents were developed by Technical Committee 194 “Cyber-Physical Systems” based at RVC. Among the approved documents is LoRaWAN RU. The standard for the LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Networks) protocol has been approved as a preliminary national standard (PNST) “Information Technologies — Internet of Things. Exchange protocol for high-capacity networks with long range and low power consumption.” It defines the LoRaWAN network protocol and system architecture optimized at the national level for mobile and stationary battery-powered end devices. The fact that LoRaWAN was about to gain national standard status in Russia was announced by Lyudmila Plescheeva, head of the LoRaWAN working group of the Association of Internet of Things (AIoT), at a prospective technologies forum organized by AIoT at the end of 2020 (see article from ComNews, December 28, 2020).

The LoRaWAN protocol can be used for managing utilities and transport infrastructure, in agriculture, mining and petrochemical industries, and other sectors. It is characterized by high energy efficiency, long-range data transmission capability, bidirectional communication support, and flexible bandwidth adaptation. In 2019, the standard received support from international LoRa Alliance experts and was approved for use as a regional specification for the Russian market — LoRaWAN RU.
