ROSSMA IIOT-AMS PULSE meter-switch is designed for independent counting of pulses (including frequency signals above 300 Hz) from instrumentation devices and wireless transmission of the collected data.

The meter-switch can be used at industrial facilities, housing and communal services infrastructure, and in hard-to-reach places. Operates in harsh climatic and weather conditions.

ATTENTION: The meter-switch is equipped with a built-in non-rechargeable lithium-thionyl chloride (LiSOCL2) battery ER34615M/T. Attempts to recharge the battery may lead to fire!

ROSSMA IIOT-AMS PULSE operates from the built-in power supply, allowing equipment installation in hard-to-reach places.

Explosion Protection

The explosion-proof meter-switch is designed for installation and operation in hazardous areas of indoor and outdoor installations according to Chapter 7.3 "Electrical Installations in Hazardous Areas" of the Electrical Installation Rules.

Devices with explosion protection type "increased protection type 'e'" comply with:

  • GOST 31610.0-2014 "Explosive Atmospheres. Part 0. Equipment. General Requirements"
  • GOST 31610.7-2012 "Electrical Equipment for Explosive Gas Atmospheres. Part 7. Equipment. Increased Protection Type 'e'"

Designed for operation in hazardous areas where explosive mixtures of gases and vapors with air of categories IIA, IIB, IIC according to GOST R 31610.0-2014 may form.

Operating Principle

The meter-switch counts pulses from instrumentation devices:

Input Types:

  • 4 galvanically isolated inputs - for connecting meters with pulse output
  • 4 dry contact inputs - for connecting sensors with relay output
  • Selectable input configuration when ordering

Technical Capabilities:

  • Support for frequency signals above 300 Hz
  • Independent pulse counting without external power
  • Periodic transmission of accumulated data over wireless network

Operating Algorithm:

  • Pulse count data accumulates in device memory
  • Communication period is configured via LoRaWAN network
  • Transmission of accumulated data occurs according to set timer
  • Communication timing control is performed via network server

Construction

The meter-switch consists of a plastic enclosure with cable glands (the required number of glands is specified when ordering), housing a printed circuit board with a 3.6V lithium battery.

Installation

IMPORTANT: Installation and configuration of the meter-switch must be performed by qualified personnel.

Installation Requirements:

When selecting the installation location for the meter-switch, consider the following conditions:

  • The meter-switch version must match the installation zone
  • Exposure of the enclosure and internal circuit board elements to aggressive environments is not allowed

Explosion-proof version: When installing in hazardous areas, follow Chapter 7.3 "Electrical Installations in Hazardous Areas" of the Electrical Installation Rules and GOST 31610.7-2012.

Initial Setup

Connection Procedure:

  1. Mount the meter-switch according to the mounting type
  2. Unscrew the screws (4 pcs) securing the cover to the enclosure base
  3. Remove the cover
  4. Connect the meter-switch using cable (recommended conductor cross-section not exceeding 1 mm) to the terminal device through terminals (according to Fig.1)
  5. Connect the battery to the power connector on the circuit board
  6. Check LED indication
  7. Secure the cover to the enclosure base using screws

LoRaWAN Network Activation:

The meter-switch supports two LoRaWAN network activation methods:

  • ABP (Activation By Personalization)
  • OTAA (Over-The-Air Activation)

By default, the manufacturer sets the ABP activation method.

Battery Replacement

ATTENTION: Battery replacement must be performed by qualified personnel. Repair and maintenance of the meter-switch by the consumer is not allowed!

When is battery replacement needed?

Battery life is approximately 10 years. The device transmits battery voltage data with each communication session.

If malfunction is detected, check the battery voltage via the ROSSMA NETS server.

What pulse output sensors can be connected?
ROSSMA® IIOT-AMS Pulse Ex accepts pulse signals up to 300 Hz and dry contact signals. Compatible with flow meters, water meters, gas meters, electricity meters, and any instruments with pulse output.
How many pulse inputs does the wireless counter have?
Up to 8 inputs: 4 galvanically isolated and 4 dry contact type. Each input counts pulses independently.
What is the battery life?
Up to 10 years from a 3.6 V / 14 Ah lithium battery. Built-in battery level monitoring with data transmission to the server.
Can water or gas flow be measured wirelessly?
Yes. Connect a flow meter with pulse output to Pulse Ex — flow data will be transmitted via LoRaWAN up to 15 km without cabling. Supports 8 frequency plans for different countries.
Does the device work in winter conditions?
